Frame Analysis as a Tool for Decoding Emotion Concepts
Abstract
This study develops a theoretical and methodological foundation for applying frame theory to the analysis of emotion concepts. Based on Lawrence Barsalou’s frame theory, three theses are formulated and justified: First, the key to analyzing emotion concepts lies in the contextualization of the emotion words that represent these concepts. Second, the frame approach is suitable for decoding emotion concepts from context, but it poses methodological challenges. Third, these challenges can be addressed through corpus-linguistic methods.
